Photography has provided me with the opportunity of exploring and creating a visual communication of my passion for "what makes the world tick".

Beginning my career as a wildlife photographer I spent many hours in remote marshlands waiting for rare waterbirds to appear. This cultivated a patience for the process of obtaining a memorable picture.

Studying photojournalism in Wales, UK, under Magnum photographer David Hurn highlighted the importance of "sensing the moment" and looking for the unusual viewpoint.

22 years in the business working with editorial, corporate and advertising clients has honed my understanding of the craft of photography and lighting. I am equally comfortable collaborating with an art director or handling a self directed assignment.

Not wishing to be pigeonholed, I enjoy the the challenge and stimulus of undertaking a wide variety of assignments that can range from an exacting food or still life shot in the studio to an environmental portrait on location.

My work as a photographer has taken me on assignments around Australia and to New Zealand, Singapore and Argentina.

Extensive experience shooting food and lifestyle features has seen my work appear in Vogue Entertaining, Australian Good Taste, Belle, Country Style, House and Garden and Australian Gourmet Traveller Magazine, for which I have shot over 50 covers.

I have shot over 20 book titles for Australian and international publishers that include the Australian Women's Weekly Home Library, Lansdowne Press, Harper Collins, Hodder Headline, Murdoch Books, and Weldons.

Those titles include The Heritage of French Cooking, The Heritage of Chinese Cooking, the Cooking With Style series, Cooking for Two, The Italian Gourmet, The Afterwork Cookbook, Cooking with Herbs, Closeup on Cakes, Healthy Heart, The New Japanese Cookbook and The Complete Mediterranean.

My food photography has been acknowledged with a Silver Award at the World Food Media Awards and an Honourable Mention from the Australian Food Writers Awards.
